Rate the Roads-Voice Your Opinion on Highways

WELCOME TO RATETHEROADS.COM!

This site is a guide for not only providing information on highway conditions throughout the United States and Canada, but also giving motorists (and fellow "roadgeeks") the chance to offer their own input on highway conditions.

Roads are judged on the following criteria:

safety

congestion

pavement condition

clarity of signing

aesthetics

Each category is given a score of 1-10 (1=unsatisfactory; 10=exemplary). A final score is then calculated for each highway.

Depending on the number of entries, an average score is assigned for each category.


	RED LIGHT (AVERAGE SCORE 0.0 TO 3.9) Consistently below average in a given category. The highway is seriously compromised in areas of safety.


	YELLOW LIGHT (AVERAGE SCORE 4.0 TO 6.9) Consistently average in a given category. While the highway may be constructed and maintained to acceptable standards, major improvements may need to be made to attain the highest standards.


	GREEN LIGHT (AVERAGE SCORE 7.0 TO 10.0) Consistently above average in that category. The highway is built and maintained to the highest standards.
